The KMS is demonstrated in two different scenarios with different configurations, 3rd party components and interfaces.
The first demo is within the context of the DISCRETION project at REPMUS 2024. In it the KMS is integrated with QKD devices, an SDN as well as several applications. The KMS receives the keys using the ETSI 004 interface in a push mode first presented in a paper by AIT. The integration with the SDN will be also the first demonstrated application of the API presented in the same paper. The Keys are then obtained using the ETSI 004 in a pull mode by radio devices for military communication and an encryptor for network communication.
The second demonstration shortly after that is at the ECOC 2024. Here one possible multi national communication infrastructure is presented using many different QKD technologies, vendors and different national approaches to distribute a key between 3 independent domains, enabling secure communication enabled by industry grade network encryptors. In contrast to the first demo, the keys are received and provided using the ETSI QKD 014 interface and the networks demonstrate an SDN independent configuration.
